Lost 40-17 (Tries: Reece (2), Adam; Con: Caleb)
This was a disappointing performance by the Colts, especially following last week’s encouraging display. They created plenty of chances and were on the offensive for large parts of the game. However, a series of handling errors, poor decision making and missed tackles proved decisive against a team who despite the final score were eminently beatable.
It was all the more frustrating as when they got it right, they proved that they could play good rugby, scoring 3 good, well-worked tries from Reece (2) & Adam with Caleb converting one. But as soon as they threatened to get back into the game, the old mistakes occurred again, gifting the opposition another score.
On a positive note:
1) Comments were made on the side-lines by both parents / supporters and the St Neots coaching staff that it’s “nearly there” – if they can only cut out the unenforced errors.
2) The referee was much better than from our previous experience (Men’s Own last year???) – he could hardly have been any worse!!!
