This was not the U16s finest hour!!
In truth they were never in this game and were disappointing lacklustre and lethargic from the kick-off. ONs were able to score at will without ever having to get out of 2nd gear. Scouts had a brief period of pressure towards the end of the first half, but solid ONs defence held them out. Otherwise, it was one-way traffic. Many thanks again to members of the U15s squad who turned out for the team.
The game was marred by a serious injury to one of the ONs lads who broke his wrist. We obviously send him our best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Following this performance, the coaches called a meeting prior to Wednesday night’s training where a number of issues were raised and discussed, hopefully addressing some deficiencies with the team’s attitude etc.
On a positive note, a number of the U16s squad successfully played for the Colts on Friday night and didn’t look out of place at all. This shows that there is the nucleus of a good team at U16s level and hopefully they can take this positivity forward for the remainder of the season and beyond!
