A team of 12 travelled over and what a performance they all produced. With 4 games planned for the morning it was a strong starting line up that took to the field for the 1st game. In a closely fought game the Scouts managed to come away with a 6-5 win thanks to strong running and tagging from the whole team. The win came with 2 tries from Burgess and 1 each from Nickels, Holliday, Fernley and Super sub Simner.
In the second game it was very close until Holliday came of the bench to score a hatrick of tries to seal a 7-5 victory, he was well backed up by Dadge x 2, Bacon and Sales.
The 3rd game was another test for the Scouts but they again stepped up and produced another team performance. Good tagging and running from new girl White, who seemed to fit right in to the team. Hone produced some strong runs and was unfortunate not to score, but with 2 tries from Nickels and Hendley with 1 each from Burgess, Shelton and Simner rounded off a great team effort winning 7-4.
With the next few weeks being filled with festivals it was a good chance for the coaches to use the last game as a warm up for those games and a strong starting line up suggested that. Another excellent offensive performance meant they ran in 11 tries to 4. The players worked hard and seemed to find every gap possible to save the best til last. The 11 tries were scored by Nickells x5, Holliday and Burgess x 2 and 1 each for Shelton and Sales.
All the coaches are pleased with the progress to date and hope for more of the same next week. I would like to thank the 3 assistant Coaches Dave, Joe and Lauren as well as Rachel for the note taking but most of all Ian "David Bailey" Hendley for his excellent photography skills of which should be on the web site.
