The Old Scouts 1st XV succumb to their first loss at home this season against an in-form Lutterworth.
After the enjoyment of last weeks Alliance semi final win, the reality of refocusing on winning the league might have come too soon and the 1st half summed that up.
The visitors amassed a half time score of 27 points against a barely recognisable Scouts.
Normally this season they have stared very strong and Scouts did have two tries disallowed as they were deemed to be help up. The one from Phillip Hone in the corner was clear to see, but Brett Daynes was denied a score and it was hard to believe that anyone could have squeezed under the robustly built second row. With Will Brenan in fine form, 14-0 to the Scouts would have painted a very different picture to the first quarter.
After the break, The Scouts did produce a very strong come back and despite scoring an unanswered 19 points it was always going to be very difficult to pull back such a commanding league from a league topping side. The damage was done and time had run out.
So it is one to forget, and no doubt that the challenge of Market Harborough away will be approached in a different way.
