Friday night lights was back at the weekend which saw The Scouts inflict another heavy defeat on Towcester. On the night saw two debuts for Ross Herbert and Matt Meek who have both been excellent contributors in training and have earnt their start.
The visitors took an early lead with a penalty at 3 minutes but that was the only sniff of scoring they got for nearly the entire game.
After the penalty, there was nothing short of an onslaught from The Scouts and the scored flew up to 42-3 after 35 minutes with tries from Callum Inwood, Ollie Holliday, Tyler Mills, T Holliday and two from Cam Sharpe. All of the tries were converted by the wonderful boot of Will Brenan.
The halftime break was a relief for Towcester but The Scouts changed their 15 by using all the bench. The squad is so strong these days that not being in the starting 15 is a tactical reason and Reeves, Bussey and Jordan got in to the game very quickly. Each contributing with strong running and continuing the headache for Towcester.
The tries kept coming soon after the kick off and this time from Tom Holliday, Noah Jervis, and another from Inwood who is clearly enjoying his return to the starting lune up. Brenan nudged over 2 conversions and with a mountain of a score on the horizon, the visitors did fight back. They snuck in a forward drive try and probably had hope for more, but the game finished off with another Jervis try.
When faced with the bottom placed team, The Scouts could have run out a few changes to the side, but the game was necessary to prepare them for Nuneaton this week who will be very different. However, after watching that first 30 minutes, its difficult to see The Scouts losing on Saturday.
Man of the Match = Callum Inwood
