The fantastic 1st team made it 8 straight wins by beating Kettering, and remain unbeaten in the league.
The squad love games like this. Kettering posed the toughest test of the season so far and only an excellent performance would do.
With the weather being nothing but miserable it was always going to be a forward battle and boy did the Scouts forwards bring it. So far this season, the backs have won the headlines but this was all about the forwards.
Kettering's antagonistic pack did all they could to unsettle the visitors and were rewarded with a penalty try after just 9 minutes, but it didn't sit right or phase The Scouts.
The forwards efforts delivered the first try. After a breakdown, Tyler Mills cross field kick was raced on to by Ollie Holliday and he scored in the corner. With the scores now level, the game became a battle for the remaining 60 minutes with no less than 5 yellow cards given by the referee. This stat summed up the scrappy and tense game but did not take away the huge effort given by the matchday squad.
Tries from Sharpe, Bond and Tom Holliday, and 9 points from Will Brenan gave the thoroughly deserved final score of 26-7 and the end to a hard fought league game.
We have a feeling both sides are looking forward to the return fixture at Rushmere road.
