Scouts Outclass Towcester

Towcester away on a Friday night is a mouth watering challenge and the lads were very excited for the game.

In recent years Towcester have been a difficult away opponent, so there was a need to end that story.

The game was as expected in the first quarter. Tough and high spirited from both sides and lots of strong defence. With it being a warm evening the crowd probably expected to see a more open game, but instead the attrition battle was tight, and difficult for either side to gain advantage.
Scouts finally got going when Dean Lake finished a team try at 18 minutes, which was converted by Will Brennan and at 7-0 there was sign of Scouts starting to dominate. If Scouts had pushed the territory game a bit more with some kicking, they might have grown a quick lead but instead they attacked wide though the backs

The Towcester defence was up to it and managed to hold until Barrett crashed over at 34 minutes. Brennan converted and soon after Alex Finney, on his return to the club got his season first try and the half finished at 19-0.

At half time it did not feel like Towcester were out of the game and the boys were reminded of that when they scored within 2 minutes. 19-5 and Towcester probably through they could fight back.
That door was slammed shut at 55 minutes by a Luke Reeves try which led to a very dominant 20 minutes.

The dominance was because the home forwards could not keep up with the pace of the Scouts forwards. That forward platform made the space for 5 unanswered tries by the Scouts. Including two outstanding half pitch runs from Ollie Holliday and Callum Inwood and a try by Brennan that came from a kick pass by Dean Lake.

With 5 conversions from Will Brennan the game ended 59-5. A proper thumping.
