Jim spent most of his rugby career at Scouts where he learnt the game in the minis and juniors.
He went on to be part of a successful Saints U21s squad and appeared at Twickenham for East Midlands U19's and U21's .
After brief spells at Birmingham and Bedford Ath 'Smithy' returned to his roots and played a big part in where the club is today. Following retirement at the end of last season he still wanted to put something back into the club and took up a coaching role with the U18s where he was embarking on what could have been a very successful coaching career.

The family will be holding a private funeral but wish all of Jim's friends and colleagues to come and celebrate his life in the club that he loved.

There will be a Remembrance Service at Northampton Old Scouts RFC in a marquee on Friday November 4th. The marquee will be accessible at 2pm with the service commencing at 2:30pm.
At the request of the family the bar will open from 4pm and close at 7pm .
