Lost 15-5 (T: Kieran)
Scouts slow start proved costly as they lost this close encounter with local rivals BBOB. They conceded a (very) early try when sloppy play straight from the kick off gave BB a scrum close to the line, from which they proceeded to score.
Things didn’t get any better as a further try gave BB a 12-0 lead within the first 5 minutes, a start from which Scouts never fully recovered. BB had started the game much more aggressively, however once Scouts had weathered the early onslaught and had woken up, they got themselves back into the game when Kieran scored in the corner to make the half-time score 12-5.
If the first half had been a scrappy affair, the second was more tense, with Scouts striving to turn the possession into points. Things threatened to boil over on a couple of occasions with both sides reduced to 14 men following a minor fracas. BB received a further yellow card, reducing them to 13 men, but still Scouts couldn’t break through.
The only score in the half came near the end when BB were awarded a penalty in from of the posts and elected to take the 3 points.
Overall, a fairly solid performance from Scouts. If only they could wake up earlier!!
