As a curtain raiser to the new season, the Colts took part in the Wellingborough Colts Festival on Wednesday evening where they played 3 25 minute matches.
In the first match vs Casuals, Scouts came from behind to register a 7-5 victory due to a length of the field breakaway try from Peter, which was drop kick converted by Adam.
Next up was a very big Long Buckby side. Despite some serious tackles going in, the size difference eventually told with Long Buckby running out 14-0 winners.
Finally they took on ONs and gave them a serious run for their money. 2 late tries led to ONs running out 17-5 victors, although Scouts were in the game right up until the final whistle and the score flattered ONs slightly.
This was a useful experience for the new-look Colts side gave them a taste of what Colts rugby is all about. Athough there are obviously things to work on, this was an encouraging start, especially considering that they had approx. 8 players unavailable tonight.
