This was a close and intense game as could be expected between fierce local rivals in a cup semi-final in front of a sizeable and appreciative crowd. The fact that no tries were scored during the match indicates how well matched the two sides were in an attritional encounter where the only score gave from two BB penalties in the first half.
It was a physical game with both defences refusing to give an inch. Both sides created chances with BB held up over the line on a couple of occasions and only being denied a certain try by a superb last gasp tackle by Tom.
Scouts had their own opportunities to win the game, but they couldn’t quite finish moves off with either a final pass not going to hand or a knock-on depriving them of further scoring opportunities.
Ultimately a disappointing case of “so near yet so far”. However, no-one could fault the effort put into the game by the team as the amount of knocks, cuts & bruises displayed at the end of the game testified.
