End of An Era

Lost 34-5 (T: Jacob Tansley)

Unfortunately the U16s winning streak came to an abrupt end in this league game at Bletchley. Due to injuries and other unavailabilities, the team were again indebted to members of the U15 squad.

Scouts best moments came either side of half-time when they enjoyed long periods of pressure and got the home team rattled. This was rewarded with JT scoring their only points. Unfortunately though, Bletchley were better in the off-load and generally quicker with their passing.

Man of the Match was Taylor for his tackle count and overall tenacity – Great to have you back TCC!!

As it turned out, this was to prove to be the squad’s last game as juniors with the Rushden game unfortunately having to be called off. It’s been a unique experience watching the team develop from teeny, tiny tweenies running about to the young men of today towering over us and making us shudder on the touchline with huge, bone-crunching tackles and watching in all weathers from hail & snow to searing heat in October.

There have been numerous ups (2 brilliant tours to France & Holland – thanks to Neil, Adam, Penny etc, including winning a trophy in Holland; beating Wellingborough in the final at their own festival etc.) and downs (more than our fair share of serious injuries – Connor, Lawrenze and then Alex, Ollie & Taylor this season alone!).

Many thanks to all the coaches throughout the years who have given their time for free to help these guys and without whom there would be no team. Especial thanks to Phill, JM, Andy, Nick, Ryan, AJ, Michael and all others who have given their time over the last couple of seasons to make this team competitive. The turn around since the “crisis meeting” has been extraordinary. A huge thanks also to our brilliant Parents Rep, Tracey for keeping everyone informed about what’s going on when (& where).

It’s been a privilege to be involved in a small way – I salute you guys!!

And now we go onto Colts (and beyond) starting (hopefully) this Friday with a game against BBOB.
