Won 22-19 (T: Taylor (2); Peter; Caleb. C: Caleb)
After the huge embarrassment of a couple of weeks ago, this was much more like it from the U16s. This was a really enjoyable game played by two well-matched sides with the right attitude and played in the correct spirit.
Scouts stormed into an early 17-0 lead. Taylor opened the scoring with a try from close range, then Caleb increased the lead following a superb kick and chase. And when Peter jinked his way over and Caleb coverted, it seemed as though this would be an easy morning for Scouts. However, Brackley now woke up and scored a try of their own. A second, converted try just before half-time brought them right back into the game at 17-12.
Scouts increased their lead early in the second half when Sam stole a lineout ball and Taylor drove over for his second try of the match to make it 22-12. Brackley now stepped up their efforts and were in the ascendency for most of the remainder of the game. They managed a second converted try to bring them within 3 points. Despite a huge effort and being camped on the Scouts line for what seemed an age the Scouts defence just managed to keep them out for a hard-earned, but ultimately deserved win.
Well done to the lads and coaches for turning around a desperate situation and making this an enjoyable morning at a very friendly club!
