Scouts unlucky in Nail Biter with Peterborough

Scouts went to Peterborough with a strong squad but preparations were upset by the loss of two senior players - one in the warm up and the second in the first 2 minutes of the game. The last minute unexpected changes seem to take the edge of scouts during the initial exchanges and allowed Peterborough to slot home two well taken penalties in the first 20 minutes. As the half dragged on Scouts came more and more into the game moving the ball both via the backs and forwards culminating in a well worked and strong drive over the line from a lineout 5 meters out. The try coolly converted by Connor allowing Scouts to go into the half time break 7 to 6 Up. The second half continued in keeping with the first with both sides defences playing intense well organised rugby .The Penalty count against Scouts however kept high snuffing out a number of Scouts moves when attacking close in. It looked like Scouts would close out a scoreless second half to take a well earned victory when against the run of play a loose ball was picked up in the Peterborough half and ran back for Peterborough to pick up ,for them , a priceless unconverted try in the corner to put them 11-6 up with 10 minutes to play. Scouts regrouped after conceding the try and camped in the opposition 22 hammered the line to the last whistle coming close a number of times only to be held up or conceding loose penalties. This was a hard physical and skilful game played by two of the best sides in the midlands. Both sides and all players involved did their clubs proud.
