This week, hard training session for the squad and a positive win at Broadstreet

With one team away at the Broadstreet Festival and the majority at home training, it was a busy week for the under 10s

The majority of the squad were at home this week which gave us a chance to review our last games against Wellingborough. The red and whites were a good balanced side so we quickly identified the areas we needed to work on in training.

With the benefit again of the fantastic support of our parents, friends and sponsors we have received more kit to help the squad develop. Now we have our own tackle and rucking pads, next the Saints will be phoning us to borrow kit!!

As the festival side discovered (more about that later), working hard in training pays off. Our first player of the week did just that, awarded for his hard work and stamina in the rucking drills Aiden Thomas was nominated for trophy number 1!

The festival side were lucky enough to travel to Broadstreet RFC in Coventry, home training ground of the Wasps. Playing in a tournament against 6 other sides from the local area that we haven't played before, the boys worked hard. Their first couple of games were all a coach could ask for. From the tackles put in by Jonas on the wing, the rucking by George, to the support play from Tom, Tom, Ernie, Sam and Ethan. Ben bouncing a number of the opposition and Archie showing great discipline in the breakdown to keep the formation allowing for several breakthrough tries (a number coming from last weeks POW Heath), it was a great days rugby.

After every match the opposition coaches heaped praise on the team for their rucking and discipline, making Kelv, Nathan and myself very proud of the boys. Player of the week number 2 went to Oscar Young. He has worked hard in the ruck, setting a great example of what we need in position, strength and an overall display of teamwork.

We learnt that we need to work on our play off the back of the scrum and the importance of ripping the ball. with 6 games played in all (the 7th was cancelled as the opposition went home!) the boys won every game comfortably only conceding 1 penalty try to the hosts all day.

As we move forward we want to build on what we learn from the games and work on it in training so we make James and the coaches task of selection even harder! > -) Train hard, fight easy! #oneinallin
