Scouts U10s continue the club's Saints Tournament success

Seeding Pool

First up, a very strong Bugbrooke 2 team were soon off the mark with three quick tries, whilst the Scouts team, with many still very new to the game, were slow to warm up, but soon realised that defence would be key in this game and managed to hold off a rampage from Bugbrooke. The final score does not reflect the commitment of the Scouts players and their improving defence against a physically able Bugbrooke 2 side.

The Scouts defence continued to improve against a very capable ONs side, who were later well-deserved winners of their final pool. The growing confidence and commitment of the Scouts players on the pitch was rewarded with a late breakaway try. Certainly there are promising signs in the continuing development of our newer players.

Result: Scouts 1 - ONs 3

Final Pool

Having finished last in their tough seeding pool, Scouts progressed to the 3rd Place Pool with much still to play for in this new format Saints Tournament. Now it was time for our experienced players to take their place on the pitch.

The first game was against a defensively strong Long Buckby team, who are also not shy of running the ball too. It was a competitive game, played in good spirits and saw Scouts run in 3 tries whilst keeping Long Buckby off the score sheet.

With their running legs and tackling arms now in full swing, the Scouts romped in 7 tries against Bugbrooke 1 in the second game with an impressive performance of rucking and mauling, often winning possession and allowing the strong runners to maximise.

The final pool game against Milton Keynes again proved fruitful in terms of our attacking play, again with confident, strong running. However, more importantly the impeccable defensive display, particularly during the final moments where stern defence on our own line against many waves of attack, maintained the clean sheet in this final pool and proved its tackles that win you games!

An excellent afternoon, with all games played in good spirit, in the warm sunshine ableit with the blustery wind. All the squad players having plenty of game time and rewarded with their winners' parade at half time during the Saints v Newcastle match later in the day.

Great effort from all the boys and a big thank you to the parents for a turnout on the day.
