U10s and the Hot Potato!

The Scouts Under 10s squad made the long journey to Casuals last Sunday to enjoy a morning of promising rugby in the sunshine.

Having a good turnout, the squad was separated into two teams, with each having a game against the hosts.

First up were our newer squad players, with many taking part in their first competitive game. All of the players demonstrated how their understanding of the game is developing, and whilst Casuals were leading 4-0 at the interval, the visitors were able to improve both their defence and attacking game in the second half and restricted the hosts to scoring just once more with Scouts dotting the ball down for 3 tries, thanks to strong running and support play from Matthey, Finley and Josh. Well done to you all!

The second half of the morning gave the more experienced players an opportunity to show how their passing, handling and use of pitch space has improved over the last couple of weeks, with the ball being moved deftly from one side of the pitch to the other as if it were a hot potato and scoring 14 tries between them! The boys soon realised that even though they've passed to a team-mate, the try scoring opportunities are still there and often there is greater pleasure in assisting a try rather than scoring themselves. Stern defence denied Casuals any scoring opportunities other their only try coming from a single missed tackle on the wing. An all-round fabulous team performance and a significant improvement since their visit to Bedford two weeks ago. Keep up the good work boys!
