A good run out for the whole squad and another good result for Scouts

Another sunny morning saw the whole under 9s squad take on visitors Shelford RFC. It was a chance for the whole squad to play a match against a side they didn't know, some for the first time. Shelford provided two good teams to play the three mixed teams from the under9s squad.

The boys worked hard, putting in to practice what they had learnt in training, cries of "width" and "depth" could be heard from the coaches as the boys battled on. Shelford put up a hard fight, their number 18 caused our defence some issues, even bringing down Ernie!!. However the boys kept on, supporting each other and putting in some excellent defensive work. A few casualties along the way, Ben and Archie took some hard knocks, how ever one mention of stitches by me to his Dad and Archie was off, fastest line speed yet!! I'm proud to say both went back on and played to the end of the morning.

The squad as a whole is developing well, as always there are bits we can build on, but with the work the boys are putting in, those that are grasping the game are supporting those that are still finding their way which is what we want as a team. Several players got a specific mention from James at the end of play about their hard work and progression and we were pleased as a group of coaches to award our first player of the month award to Ernie Jackson. This was awarded for his happy positive attitude in training and games, his high work rate on the pitch and most importantly his support to his team mates.
