The whole squad visit BBOB

With the weather impacting this seasons calender and our own pitches under a foot of water we made the trip across town to BBOB. Thankfully their flooding issues had been resolved to allow for a morning of rugby that even saw the sun make an appearance.

With three Scouts teams picked to take on the two from both BBOB and Brackley the boys got to play most of the morning. We were slow to start, some outstretched arms meant missed tackles, but as the day progressed so did we. Often the boys need to remember the basics of "width and depth", they get flustered and either bundle up in a ball in the middle or players try and take everything on themselves. Neither of which is going to help us next year. We need to keep it simple, make the tackles, spread out and run straight.

Players that came to particular notice of the coaches this week included Lochlan Withey and Jack Bates for some good tackles, Aiden Duffy for some good support play and some excellent running (and dummies) from Arran Johnstone, keep this up Arran!

There are benefits of having a good strong squad, one being we can help out other smaller clubs by asking boys to swap sides. The result is the boys get to know other players and get more playing time which is what mini rugby is about. Several took their turn including this weeks player of the week. Bailey Fenn played well, made some good runs (for both teams :-) ) and is developing each week. Well done Bailey.

Next week we are away for our second annual tour to Holt. Preparations are in full swing, this week the boys received their excellent tour hoodies from the awesome Clare Heath, the lovely Andrea is busy with all the admin as she knows she can sort it better than us coaches combined. Not long now boys, so bring on the clowns!!!!
