A full weekend of Rugby for the under 9s

A busy weekend for the boys, on top of a full weekend of Six Nations Rugby, the boys hosted a touring side and turned out for good mornings training.

Saturday saw the squad host Vale of Lune RFC who were on tour. The boys played well welcoming the visiting players and parents to the club. Sadly our pitches would more suit water polo than rugby, but a move over the road provided the chance to get some game time. The boys played well, working on our team calls and generally having a great time.

Sunday was a chance to catch up on some training as a fixture against Oundle was called off. The boys were returning to revision around the tackle, whilst practising our new set piece moves. The coaches, ever aware we always need the basics to be right in the tackle and the easy pass, want to let the boys develop as a team and work through some small number moves. The boys enjoy this as its what they see in the professional game, but we don't want it to be at the expense of the basics. As we progress we are sure they will get the hang of it.

This weeks player of the week put in some great efforts on both days in the tackle and gaining yards. He always a hard worker and has obviously inherited his dads snake hips! Well done to Sam Robinson :-)

It was also time for player of the month for March. A well deserved Max Botterill picked up the coveted Saints ball. One of the newest members of the squad he has really done well, learning the game, perfecting his tackling and making some streaming runs down the wing to score a number of tries. Above all, he is always keen to learn and has fitted into the squad really well. A great addition to the team.
