A Wet start to the new year

Battling against the weather and water logged pitches at the club, the under 9s took to Abington Park for a New Year run out.

Despite the bleak weather it was pleasing to see 20 of the squad make it down along with wrapped up parents for a chance to get together and get the muscles working after the Christmas break.

The ground wasn't the best place to be, especially when you come across a few "presents" left by other park users but this weeks player of the week always came up smelling of roses, well kind of! Take a bow Oscar Young

Even after playing in the rain and getting covered in mud, the boys still worked hard and enjoyed a couple of 5 v 5 games. A real testament to the boys that could make it down was that despite the wet, windy conditions and the freezing fingers, every lad played, nobody sat out when given the chance. A good memory to have, maybe painful at the time, but I'm sure a warm bath and the endless selection boxes left over from Christmas will make it a good one!
