Jake makes his debut!

We travelled up to Long Buckby with a small mixed ability squad and took part in a rugbyathon! 2 long games with rolling subs – great for keeping the boys warm in the Buckby wind and wearing them out through the morning.

With a gale blowing we focussed on keeping passes short and simple and despite the wind our handling and offloading was very good. Our linespeed was excellent and our teamwork and attitude in defence was great – the boys got more competitive with each other as the morning went on and it was great to see our boys looking after each other in defence. There was one particularly memorable tackle from Ernie Jackson.

It was great to have Jake Monk with us to wear our club shirt for the first time – he had a great morning and scored a few tries with some strong direct running. He deservedly picked up player of the week – the choice of the coaches and his team mates. Well done Jake.
