Wet & Windy Training at home

This week saw the (Ginger) Mini Mo Bros at home for a training session which was welcomed after the many fixtures we have had recently. The squad were there braving the elements, as were the parents (surprising how popular kitchen duty is this time of year :-) )

The focus this week was on keeping the ball alive. Training as a full squad with mixed ability teams, we practised our pre match warm up drills before getting into some more complex drills put together by Coach Marcus. The intention was to keep all the boys active and focused on the space and offload in the tackle.

This is the secret of this seasons game, keeping the ball moving, even when tackled means flowing rugby which is what wins games at this age.

Finishing on some mixed games, we saw some big hits, and few tears but as ever the boys got back up and had another go, which considering the weather was testament to their determination and hard work. As always we coaches are proud of the boys constant good efforts.

Two awards this week. Player of the week went to Oran Mckay, this was presented for his focus in the drills and in the final game. He performed several offloads whilst being tackled, avoiding the turnover, as well as putting in a number of good tackles. One to watch.

Player of the month went to a well deserved Luke Nicholls. Luke is very consistent, always working hard for his team, always tackling, looking around for a support role and gaining valuable metres. He is always ready and willing to play, never complains or hesitates. He also put in some valiant work at the Mobbs last week. A lovely lad all round.

Finally, thanks again for all the help from the parents with our support to the Mini Mo Bro campaign, the popcorns sellers and the endless support from the Facebook mums. It proves the squad is more than just those on the pitch.
