League title race ends with defeat at Market Harborough

Any hopes of winning the league were dashed at Market Harborough on Saturday as the 1st team recorded a 3rd loss of the season.

The matches between Harborough have been spicy the last couple of seasons and Saturdays 1st half was no different. Both teams went at it and there wasn't much to separate them.
The home side had the wind but didn't take advantage of it. One try a piece and a penalty from Harborough left a half time score of 10-5 and Scouts were ready to get their chance with the wind.

Within a couple of minutes Will Brenan slotted over a penalty and a couple of minutes later Jack Green scored a lovely drop goal. Suddenly Scouts were 11-10 up and it felt like they were going to carry on and win by 20 points.

Sadly, Harborough's Fly half didn't get the message and he scored another try and two penalties to take the game away from Scouts and the game finished at 23-11.

It was a disappointing end to a game that was there for the taking for The Old Scouts but the lads will move on quickly in to cup season.

With only one league game left, the last weekends results may yield a 4th or 3rd place finish for Scouts, and when all is considered will be seen as another good season for the squad. Furthermore Saturdays team featured academy graduate Reuben Hanson and debutant Ewan Roberts, which combined with some other new academy debutants this year is very positive for the squad.

Man of the Match = Harborough No.10, but Ollie Holliday was bloomin' fantastic for Scouts
