Lead changes hands four times in exciting Alliance Cup battle

Scouts did all the early attacking and eventually took the lead with a well worked try. A neat cross field chip from Jack Green was collected by wing Christian Barry who fed inside to Jacob Bond who transferred to Dean Lake to cross the line for Adam Frost to make the simple conversion.
The try was scored mid way through the first half but that was all Scouts could do as the Olney stand off dominated the remaining twenty minutes and he engineered three tries of which one was converted to make the score at the break 17 - 7 in favour of the hosts.
Scouts had a rethink while they had their oranges and their forwards began to dominate the scrummage. The efforts were rewarded five minutes into the half when they were awarded a penalty try after Olney collapsed a scrum that was heading over the whitewash.
Olney converted a penalty to increase their lead which they then lost minutes later. Following a lineout, Scouts scrum half Elliott Taite was on hand at the back of a drive to touch down. Will Brennan took over the kicking duties to convert and give the visitors a narrow one point lead.
Scouts were looking to hold on to their lead but a strong break from the Olney centre was supported to allow the hosts to go back in front with a converted try.
Several changes were being made and it was anyone's guess what was going to happen next but it was Scouts who again took the lead. Requiring seven points, a penalty was kicked into the corner and the resulting catch and drive allowed Lincoln to force his way over. Brennan added the extras and then converted a penalty for good measure to ensure an away victory over a team playing in a higher league.
This win puts Scouts into the semi-final at home to ON's. Date to be arranged.
